We don’t often have the opportunity to bring whimsy to a billion-dollar, mixed-use retail and entertainment development. But that’s what we achieved with one of our most exciting projects to date: American Dream, located in East Rutherford, New Jersey, just across the Hudson River from Manhattan and adjacent to The Meadowlands Sports Complex.
Developed by Triple Five Group, and coming in at three million square feet, American Dream is the country’s second-largest shopping and entertainment complex. It combines adventure and excitement with features such as a 16-story indoor ski slope, ice skating rink, water park, wave pool, amusement park, retail, food and specialty shops.
Working closely with the lead design architect, Gensler, we visualized interiors of the mall’s DreamWorks Water Park and Nickelodeon Universe, North America’s largest indoor theme park. Our interior VRs and renderings take viewers through American Dream’s soaring, light-filled spaces, past lush tropical greenery and whimsical theme park characters like SpongeBob SquarePants and the Rugrats, in and around a thrills-packed roller coaster and wave pool—where swimmers float under the watchful eyes of suspended DreamWorks characters including Shrek, Po the panda, and Alex the lion—and inside cabanas and hospitality spaces surrounding the water park.
The first phase of American Dream opened in late October, with the water park and ski slope opening later this year, and retail and dining by spring 2020. We can’t wait to see what thrills are coming next.
